Cancer is able to occur in almost all of our body part even in places that we never thought like throats. Some types of cancer can be easily removed such as breast cancer, but there are types of cancer that almost impossible to be removed. One type of cancer than cannot be easily removed is mesothelioma. This cancer occurs in mesothelium, a cover of internal organs. The main cause of this cancer is the exhalation of asbestos and its substances. Mesothelioma is quite difficult to handle because it can spread easily and it can only diagnosed when the mesothelioma level is reaching advance level. Most of mesothelioma patients are only have eight to twelve months age after the mesothelioma prognosis, but it depends on the patients’ condition. If the patient has good health condition, he/ she can survive to two years.
This type of cancer can be included as a rare cancer. Therefore, intensive study has not been done as the other types of cancer. The mesothelioma prognosis is influenced by patients’ age and health condition. A research state that more than 70% mesothelioma patients are those who are older than 65 years old and most of them are men. On the mesothelioma prognosis, the doctor will check the overall health condition, symptoms, and the spreading of mesothelioma in the body with x ray or CAT.Some symptoms of mesothelioma that will be checked in mesothelioma prognosis are weight loss, pain in the chest, difficulty in breathing because of fluid in the lungs, the decreasing of red blood cell, increasing of white blood cell, and several others. Usually, when patient has all those symptoms, he/ she will not be able to survive in more that six months after mesothelioma prognosis.
However, with the technological devices of medical industry, nowadays we can find patients that able to live more than five years. The percentage of people who are able to live more than 5 years after mesothelioma prognosis is only ten percents, but the fact will give optimism to the other mesothelioma patients.
