Abdominal mesothelioma cancer or the other name for it is peritoneal mesothelioma is one of a kind in mesothelioma cancer family. In the U.S abdominal mesothelioma is a rare case. In a year there are 2000-3000 new cases, but from that astounding number case of mesothelioma cancer only 100-500 from it diagnosed as abdominal mesothelioma cancer. It is rarely diagnosed but it is the deadliest from all mesothelioma cancer.

The peritoneal mesothelioma or the abdominal mesothelioma is a name that is given to a cancer that attacks the lining of the abdomen. This abdominal cancer most of them is caused by exposure to asbestos. This cancer attacks the lining that envelopes or protect the contents of abdomen. When the lining of the abdomen is attacked, the organs cannot move and working properly. It is because the lining of the abdomen is the one that create a fluid so that others can move and work properly. Abdominal mesothelioma can spread to stomach, liver, lungs, heart, esophagus, intestines, and blood vessels. Most cases of abdominal mesothelioma ends in death.

Though there are no definitive explanations that asbestos is the cause of abdominal mesothelioma, but it is widely known that asbestos is the reason. Abdominal mesothelioma first enters body of the patients through excessive exposure to asbestos. There are two ways that asbestos can enter out body, according to medical experts, the first is accidentally swollen and through lungs during long hours of working. Accidentally inhaled or swollen asbestos is harmful for our health.

There are various kinds of treatment that abdominal mesothelioma patients can have. Surgery is one of them. Doctors cuts a part of abdomen lining to remove the cancer, but it depends on how far the cancer has spread. Radiation therapy can be done to treat abdominal mesothelioma. Using various combinations of drugs can also used to kill the cancer cells.
